Based on the hugely popular BioBlitz events, Explorama focuses on our natural history collections and gives you the chance to take on the role of scientist as our Museum curators and experts from diverse scientific fields take you on an exploration of life – above and below the surface – in the Domain.

Back in the Museum, special tours will take you behind-the-scenes into restricted areas including collection storage spaces and curatorial labs to see how objects are prepared for research and display. Discover why we keep natural history collections and how we use them. You’ll also get the chance to learn how items are cured or preserved with poisonous chemicals and to take a turn on our high power microscopes to see the Domain discoveries up-close.
