Winner of the 2011 Michael Hill International Violin Competition, Russian-born Sergey Malov teams up with pianist Michael Houstoun for a spellbinding programme of virtuosic repertoire.
In 2011, Sergey won the International Mozart Competition in Salzburg, before winning a hat-trick at the 2011 Michael Hill International Violin Competition, scooping the top prize along with the inaugural Julian Paul Anderson Award for Best Chamber Music Player and the Audience Prize.
Revered pianist Michael Houstoun will perform with Sergey on the tour.
In Auckland, the programme features John Psathas’ Gyftiko and Ysaÿe’s Sonata No 4 for solo violin; while NZTrio cellist Ashley Brown will join Sergey and Michael to perform Beethoven’s ‘Ghost’ Trio.
