Pull out your winter woollies and hunt down those gloves because Aotea Square Ice Rink is back for 2017.

Enjoy an exciting variety of special events including the thrilling new Skate Path, DJ nights, themed parties, skating lessons and much more.

Skate amongst the downtown buzz to experience the magic of your very own winter playground in Aotea Square. 

For those who haven’t yet had the chance to experience real snow in all its glory, a magical snow play area will be on offer and students will be treated to special skate nights complete with discounted tickets and great music to provide a break from those long nights of cramming.

Aotea Square Ice Rink Opening Hours:

Monday to Friday - 12 noon to 10pm

Saturday and Sunday - 10am to 10pm

School Holidays (Sat 8 July to Sat 22 July) - 10am to 10pm 

School Holidays (Sun 23 July) - 10am to 9pm

Aotea Square Ice Rink tickets*:

  • Adults: $20

  • Children: $15 (under 12 years)

  • Family pass: $55 (2 adults and 2 children or 1 adult and 3 children)
    *Tickets include 90 minute skate hire.

Where can I buy tickets?

Tickets are available at the ticket office inside the rink.

Can I go skating anytime?

Yes, you can skate for 90 minutes during opening times.

Can I hire skates?

Yes, standard ice skates are included in the ticket price. Platinum skates are also available for hire.

Can I reserve a skating frame?

Frames are on first come first served basis.

Who can use the skating frames?

Frames are available for kids and adults.

Will my belongings be safe?

It is recommended that you carry valuables and use the lockers available. Please enquire at the front desk.

How old do children have to be?

The minimum age is 3 years old. Safety helmets are compulsory for 6 years and under.
We also advise you to bring some gloves for their little hands.

What should I wear?

The rink will be cold, so please dress warmly. We suggest layers that you can remove as you warm up.

Can I bring my own food and drink?

No, but there are snacks and drinks available to purchase inside the rink. You can also purchase warm drinks inside the Winter Lounge.

Can I make a group booking?

Please note: Minimum group size of 15. Booking must be paid in one transaction. Valid between 9am - 3pm weekdays or by special arrangement.
