A journalist, novelist and short story writer, Gilbert’s books include story collection Pilgrims, the novel Stern Men, the Eustace Conway biography The Last American Manand, in 2011, the widely acclaimed novel The Signature of All Things, a tale of botanical exploration in the nineteenth century.
