Coming to the City This Weekend?

We’re getting ready for a big weekend of shows and festivities in the CBD! To help you plan your journey, we have assembled some useful information about travel, road closures, mobility access and parking to ensure you have an excellent time.

Access to streets and parking around the Aotea Arts Quarter will be restricted on Sunday March 17 for the St Patrick’s Day Festival and Parade. The parade, scheduled from 12 pm – 1pm, will travel from Customs Street down Queen Street to the Festival site between Wakefield Street and Airedale Street.

If you’re coming into the city on Sunday, please be aware of the following road closures: 

  • 8 am – 1 pm: Fort Street 
  • 9 am – 5 pm: Queen Street, from Wakefield Street to Mayoral Drive
  • 11.30 am – 1 pm: Queens Street, from Customs Street to Wakefield Street
  • 11.45 am – 12.15 pm: Customs Street 


The following parking restrictions will be in place:

  • 8am - 1pm: Fort Street
  • 9am - 5pm: Queen Street (Wakefield Street to Mayoral Drive)
  • 10am - 1pm: Queen Street (Customs Street to Wakefield Street), Customs Street, Commerce Street


The Civic, Downtown and Victoria Street car parks will all be open.

 

Public transport:

Multiple Queen Street bus stops will be closed, and delays can be expected. For an updated list of closures and diversions go to at.govt.nz
