AAF 2021 Shows Status Update on 1 March 2021

Auckland Arts Festival/Te Ahurei Toi o Tāmaki (AAF) is sadly unable to open this Thursday 4 March as planned, due to Auckland being at Alert Level 3. We are working hard to reschedule as many shows from our first four days as possible, in alignment with artist and venue availability. Our priority is the safety of our audience, crew and artists.

While we anticipate being able to reschedule much of the activity from the first part of our programme, we have been forced to cancel a small number of shows and events. These are listed below.

In the event of cancellation of a ticketed performance, ticketholders will be refunded. You do not need to do anything. If you wish to donate to AAF in the spirit of aroha, please click here.

If you hold tickets to a show that is listed as ‘working to reschedule’, we will inform you of the new date and time as soon as details are confirmed.

Taking place each March, the Auckland Arts Festival/Te Ahurei Toi o Tāmaki fills Auckland Live’s venues with an exceptional line-up of theatre, dance, music, circus, and cabaret shows.

Auckland Live is proud to be a long-standing presenting partner of this annual event that celebrates the unbeatable experience of live performance. Whether in the Kiri Te Kanawa Theatre, the mighty Civic, the Bruce Mason Centre, or set amongst the passers-by in Aotea Square, the Auckland Arts Festival shines as a globally-recognised smorgasbord of the finest art and culture.

This year it celebrates our local talent by bringing some of the greatest artists from across Aotearoa New Zealand to enrich the shores of Auckland Tāmaki Makaurau with live performance.

The 2021 programme is inspired by the concept of aroha – with every event in the programme bringing us together through love, compassion, empathy, sympathy, affection, caring, benevolence, and kindness.

Aroha ki te tangata / show kindness, compassion, goodwill towards people

Aroha ki te taiao / caring for our natural environment – air, land, water

Aroha ki ngā kōrero / respect for our stories
