What is contact tracing?

As part of the Ministry of Health’s Alert Level 2 measures, we are required to have contact tracing in place at point of entry in all our venues for our staff and visitors.

Contact tracing requires everyone to sign in at the Level 3 Aotea Centre entry and/or the BOX Café and Bar terrace entrance.

We have developed a simple process to assist with our contact tracing – you can choose to scan the Health QR code using the Ministry of Health’s NZ Covid Tracer app on your mobile phone at entry, or to sign-in.

Visitors do not need to check out.

Our friendly staff will be on hand on Level 3 to assist with the process.

Health and Safety

In accordance with the Ministry of Health’s Alert Level 2 health and safety guidelines, hand sanitiser units are situated throughout the Aotea Centre, its foyers, BOX Café and Bar and BOX Container in the Square.

Cleaning of our venues, surfaces and offices has increased and high touch surfaces are cleaned regularly throughout the day.

Physical distancing is in place in our venues – i.e. one metre between friends, families and colleagues; two metres between strangers.

Ministry of Health signage advising of additional health and safety messages is displayed in all our venues and spaces.

Our Housekeeping, Security, Café and Front of House teams are all wearing facemasks, which are optional for visitors and the public.

What’s on?

At Alert Level 2 we are working with a range of small convention meetings and events activity, supporting our network of artists and companies to rehearse and develop new ideas in our venues,  and get ready for Alert Level 1, where we look forward to inviting the public in for bigger events.

Until then, there are several things to see in and around our venues.

Lisa Reihana’s spectacular digital artwork Ihi, will be available to view under Alert Level 2 in the BNZ foyer (level 3) of the Aotea Centre from 8.00 am - 7.30 pm Mon – Fri, closed Sat and Sun.

Aotea Square as a public space is open all year round.  We are cooking up some new ideas to reactivate the space for spring and the warmer weather, and to welcome back live arts and entertainment to our backyard.

Spring is also inspiring us to create new fun digital moments in Aotea Square, including on the Aotea Centre Wrap.

Queens Wharf is a great place to take a stroll. While you are there take a look at the Michael Parekōwhi artwork The Lighthouse and capture an Instagram-worthy shot of the harbour.
