21 Jun - 16 Jul 2022

To celebrate the inaugural Matariki public holiday and to pay homage to this season, we have a series of performances and events taking place across our venues to showcase the richness, diversity, and talent of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland’s Toi Māori creatives.

Join us at the Kiri Te Kanawa Theatre at Te Pokapū, Aotea Centre on the 23rd of June for MĀUI. A very special one-night-only event that captures the childhood stories that have travelled throughout the Pacific for hundreds of years - retold through the language of movement, music and film.

Explore an awe-inspiring light installation across Aotea – Te Papa Tū Wātea, Aotea Square as we bring to life the story of how Māui captured the secret of fire from the goddess Mahuika.

Plus, take in all the exciting activations taking place across Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland as part of Matariki ki te Manawa and the official Matariki Festival Programme.
