This Matariki, celebrate Te Tau Hou Māori, the Māori New Year with Auckland Live. We have a series of activites and events taking place across our venues to showcase the richness, diversity, and talent of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland’s Toi Māori creatives.


Join the kōrero with leading Māori performing arts experts as they shine a light on community representation through live performance as part of our Our People, Our Stories.

Experience Ché-Fu & The Kratez as they come together with the Auckland Philharmonia to perform a collection of Aotearoa's best-known hip hop, R&B, and reggae tracks fused with some dynamic orchestral arrangements. 

Head down to Aotea Square on Friday 28 June and celebrate Matariki with your whānau by acknowledging those who have passed or those you want to send well wishes to with art installation, Mihi projected onto the Auckland Town Hall and enjoy some tasty kai across the long weekend with all your favourite food trucks with the Food Truck Collective*.

Tūrama, the hugely popular series of large-scale illuminated art installations returns to light up Queen Street for the city centre’s Matariki Festival programme. Marvel in the shining light of Tūrama Kaitiaki: Horotiu on the Grass Terraces of Aotea Square between 10 June – 14 August.

Visit the Auckland Live Digital Stage across three weekends and celebrate te reo Māori kaiwaiata with Waiata Anthems lyric videos and works from Toi Māori artists with Circuit Artist Moving Image.  

Plus, take in all the exciting activations across Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland as part of Matariki ki te Manawa and the official 2024 Matariki Festival Programme.
