Bruce Mason Centre Celebrates 30 Years of Live Entertainment

Published: Thursday 6 August 2026

This year marks a major milestone for one of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland’s much-loved performance venues, as the Bruce Mason Centre celebrates 30 years of bringing people together through the arts.

Since opening on 6 August 1996, the Bruce Mason Centre has become a cultural cornerstone of Auckland’s North Shore, hosting generations of audiences and welcoming an extraordinary range of performers to its stage. Named after celebrated New Zealand playwright Bruce Mason, who grew up in Takapuna, the venue was established to provide a dedicated home for live performance in the heart of the community.

Over the past three decades, the Bruce Mason Centre has showcased everything from theatre, music, dance and comedy to talks, family events and community celebrations. For many Aucklanders, it has been the setting for first theatre experiences, standing ovations, school performances, and memorable nights out with friends and family.
