Inaugural Wharf to Wharf Brings Live Art and Creative Energy to Auckland’s Waterfront

The first Wharf to Wharf will transform Auckland’s city centre waterfront into a vibrant public art trail celebrating local artists, culture and place.

Running from Saturday 21 February to Saturday 21 March 2026, Wharf to Wharf invites Aucklanders and visitors to explore a series of artworks and live artist activations across the waterfront. It offers a rare opportunity to see artists creating in real time and engage directly with the creative community.

Led by Heart of the City, Wharf to Wharf aims to strengthen and grow the city centre’s arts and culture offerings. The initiative is delivered in partnership with Meet the Artists Collective, with support from Auckland Live, Auckland Council Events, Moana Auckland and Resene, and is proudly funded through the city centre targeted rate.

The trail features more than 30 established and emerging artists, including Paul Walsh, Richard Coldicutt, Rashi Shandiliya, Logan Moffat, Vjekoslav Nemesh, Logan Bow and Jamie Boynton. Together, they showcase a wide range of contemporary practice, from bold murals to sculpture, presented in an open and accessible format that removes the walls of the gallery and places creativity at the heart of the city.

As part of the wider Moana Auckland Festival, Wharf to Wharf contributes to a city-wide celebration of Auckland’s connection to the moana, bringing culture, creativity and community together along the waterfront.

The experience culminates with a group exhibition at Silo 6 Gallery, where works created along the trail will be brought together in a gallery setting. The exhibition provides audiences with a deeper opportunity to engage with the artists and their practice, extending the waterfront experience into a curated indoor showcase.

“Wharf to Wharf is about supporting our creative sector by making art visible, accessible and alive here,” says Viv Beck, Heart of the City CEO. “Art plays a powerful role in drawing people into the city centre, and Wharf to Wharf offers a new way for people to experience and explore both the waterfront and creativity.”

Designed to be enjoyed at any pace - from a casual lunchtime wander to a planned weekend visit - Wharf to Wharf adds to Auckland’s vibrant summer-to-autumn events calendar, reinforcing the waterfront as a destination for shared cultural experiences.
