Talented Rangatahi are Taking Over the Auckland Town Hall

At Auckland Live, we love to enable and support the next generation of performers to develop and blossom. So, we couldn’t be more excited to have three epic events, featuring a slew of young talent, convening on Saturday 24 September at the Auckland Town Hall.
Rangatahi (young people) from Sistema Aotearoa will perform in the Auckland Town Hall’s foyer, activating the space and showcasing their talents. Sistema Aotearoa is a programme designed to unleash the potential of young people and their communities, using the creation and performance of orchestral music to inspire, build confidence, and bring about social change.
Moving into the Great Hall, the up-and-coming stars of music and dance will take to the stage for Stand Up Stand Out (SUSO) 22 – Finals Showcase. Stand Up Stand Out is Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland’s very own talent competition for youth, providing a platform for the future generation to shine. The finals come after a whirlwind of heats and the semi-finals (held at the Herald Theatre, Aotea Centre), where hundreds of young students battled it out.

Later in the evening, get ready for moving and inspiring spoken word poetry and an explosion of youth expression at Word – The Front Line Grand Slam 2022. High-school students from six schools including Mount Roskill Grammar, De LA Salle College, Mount Albert Grammar, Papakura High, Marcellin College and Ngā Puna O Waiōrea will come together from across Tāmaki Makaurau for this epic event. Word – The Front Line is now in its 9th year and is New Zealand’s only inter-school spoken word poetry slam, a one-of-a-kind creative battlefield for high school students.
