Discover even more artworks woven throughout the city centre from the Strand Arcade to Central City Library, Vulcan Lane and the Waitemata Plaza. These installations offer moments to pause, reflect and connect as you walk around the city and bring greater depth to your Matariki experience.

Celebrating the mana of women at this powerful time of the year, stylised moko kauae designs are added to flags with the Matariki colour palette highlighted.

Reo Haukura
Originally commissioned for Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori, Reo Haukura responds to the permanent sculpture in front of the Central Library building.

Ngaa Uri o Hape
This photographic exhibition features portraits of wāhine connected through whakapapa to Hape, the ancestral figure behind Karangahape Road, drawn from the personal archive of relationships, memory and identity of Qiane Matata-Sipu. Each portrait is whakapapa made visible, a reminder that our ancestors continue in our faces, our stories, our bodies and our dreams. Presented in partnership with Karangahape Business Association. Te reo name has been provided by the artist.
