Celebrating their 20th anniversary, Touch Compass presents Somatechnics - an edgy new work that rolls and propels into Aotea Square. Exploring transformative mobility technologies, this cyborgean experience takes contemporary dance beyond the 21st century.
Featuring celebrated choreographers Suzanne Cowan, Catherine Chappell and Sarah Foster Sproull and with music composed by Drew McMillian, audiences will be transported into a new world to see how humans and technology are co-creating the future of mobility devices.
Somatechnics... reinventing mobility with the New Zealand-made, hot-off-the-press dynamic new Ogo: a hands-free motorised chair; and the cool electric folding Yike bike, Alinker: a radically different walking bike and mini-Segway Wall-E look-a-like.
This futuristic performance will take you on a journey of discovery, to witness the inclusive use of body and machine.
Somatechnics is presented as part of Auckland Live’s Summer in the Square programme, and represents Touch Compass' support of Disability Pride Week.
