Award-winning haka dance theatre company, Hawaiki TŪ evolves their evocative and revered work Taurite and brings it to the Kiri Te Kanawa Theatre, Aotea Centre for four performances only.

Anei te tira taiea whare tapere o Hawaiki TŪ, he rōpū whakaari ihorei, me tā rātou mahi whakahīato, maruwehi a Taurite. Kei te mauria mai ki te whaitua rēhia o Kiri Te Kanawa, Aotea Centre mō ngā whakaari e whā.

Developed in partnership with Auckland Live, Taurite wowed audiences in 2020 at Auckland Live Fringe Town, where it scooped top awards including ‘Pick of the Fringe’, ‘Best Dance’, and Auckland Arts Festival’s ‘Best of the Fringe’.

He mea whakawhanake e rāua ko Auckland Live. Ii te tau 2020 i whakamīharotia i te hunga mātakitaki ki Auckland Live Fringe Town, ki reira i hao ake ai i ngā tino tohu pēnei i te ‘Pick of the Fringe’, me te ‘Best Dance’ tae atu ki tā Auckland Arts Festival ‘Best of the Fringe’.

Later that year an innovative live-streamed performance from the Auckland Town Hall attracted viewers from around the globe.

I te whiore o taua tau, i pāpāho mataorangia te whakaari i te Auckland Town Hall hei whakapoapoa mai i te hunga mātakitaki huri noa i te ao.

A powerful, beautiful, and spiritual performance Taurite embodies the pursuit of balance and duality. Transporting the senses through its vital and ritualistic performance invoking taonga tuku iho (treasures of traditional heritage), Taurite is steeped in ancestral roots, the mana of regeneration and ihirangaranga (vibrations felt in waiata and performance expression). This is a celebration of indigenous physical expressions of kapa haka and Māori dance.

He whakaari kaha, ataahua, he whakaari whakaoho wairua. Ka whakatinana a Taurite i te whāinga o te tauritetanga me te tōruatanga. He Whakaari e tō ai i a koe, e whakakipakipa ana i ngā parangēki  katoa ki roto i tētahi whakaari e whakaoho ai i ngā taonga tuku iho.  Muia katoa a Taurite i ngā kōrero tuku iho me te mana o te whakahaumanutanga me te ihirangaranga (arā, ngā ngateri ka rangona i ngā waiata me ngā haka), ā, ka whakaoho ngā tairongo mā roto i ngā whakaari tikanga pure me te whakamahi i ngā taonga tuku iho. He whakanui tēnei i ngā mahi o te rēhia me te kapa haka.
