We Rock!

Aotea Square

Film

Before The Sapphires starts at 6.30 pm, arrive a little early to see these inspiring Kiwi musicians in the new short film, We Rock!.

A celebratory and empowering documentary look at young Kiwi musicians banding together as they attend Girls Rock Camp Aotearoa, the only annual girls, trans, and non-binary rock and roll-themed camp where music is the medium to empower our young people.

Created and run by female, trans, and non-binary industry professionals who want to change the power balance in the industry, we follow the mentors, interns, and campers throughout the week witnessing the triumphs and tribulations of taking part.

As we lead up to the final showcase, we get an insight into the profound effect this incredibly ground-breaking and powerful kaupapa can have on our rangatahi.

The Terrace Café and Hello Sailor are open and sell both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as tasty eats and treats. Please note you cannot BYO alcohol to Summer in the Square and parents, please don't drop off or leave your children unsupervised at this event.
