Helaina Keeley, Manager, Performing Arts
Helaina Keeley has over 25 years’ experience across the performing arts industry in New Zealand and joined Auckland Live in 2015, leading and developing a new portfolio focused on Creative Industries Development for the live performance context. She is currently Manager, Performing Arts working with a small team of creative producers, with a focus on programming and activating a range of Auckland Live’s iconic venues and spaces.
Prior to joining Auckland Live, Helaina was General Manager and Executive Producer of the award-winning devised physical theatre company Red Leap Theatre and Artist and Logistics Manager with the Auckland Arts Festival. She spent six years at Creative New Zealand covering a range of art form portfolios with a particular focus on the national performing arts ecology, culminating in the role of Senior Advisor for Theatre and Dance.
Helaina’s career in New Zealand’s performing arts industry has been informed and influenced by her early years as a professional contemporary dancer, working and touring for 16 years with many of New Zealand’s leading dancemakers and she contributes a range of advisory capacities across both the live performance and performing arts venue sector.
