Todd Waters, Producer

Todd Waters (he/him) is an award-winning producer working across theatre, comedy, live events, and screen.
Across his freelance career, Todd has produced over 40 projects independently and in collaboration with organisations such as Auckland Arts Festival, Hawke’s Bay Arts Festival, and Adelaide Fringe Festival. He has always prioritised work that authentically represents marginalised voices and is of profound, moving, hilarious excellence. This includes the first ever wāhine Māori comedy line-up show (Shoes Off At The Door), enabling national tours of a solo show about a single woman facing grief and horniness (Skin Hunger) and making his own award-winning work that examined what it meant to be queer in 2020 (Take The Crown).
Alongside his freelance work, Todd has held many arts admin roles across the performing arts sector, notably as Programmes Manager at Basement Theatre, Marketing & Workshops Manager at Massive Theatre Company, and most recently Relationships Manager at The Arts Foundation of New Zealand Te Tumu Toi o Aotearoa.
He’s deeply excited to work among the legends at Auckland Live and to contribute to facilitating moments of artistic excellence for the city of Tāmaki Makaurau - his home town - both inside iconic Auckland venues and also out in the public realm. He fondly remembers attending a production of Mamma Mia! at the The Civic at age 8 that changed his life (complete with emergency fire alarm evac mid-way through the show, they didn’t miss a beat when the show resumed!), making this role feel very full circle.
The ocean is his happy place, and if he could get a full-time job patting dogs, he absolutely would.
If you see him around, please say hi!
