We regret to inform you that due to the extension of Covid-19 Alert Level 4 in Auckland, we are unable to proceed with TAKE THE STAGE on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 September. We look forward to welcoming participants and audiences back to the Aotea Centre to experience this amazing event in the future. We will notify audiences as soon as we are able to confirm future dates for this event.

Take the Stage - performers information sheet

Thank you for your interest in Auckland Live’s project, Take the Stage. Here you will find key information on the registration process and what to expect on the performance day.

Who can take part?
Everyone! This opportunity is for all ages and levels. No performance experience is needed but an excitement to step onto the big stage is a must! Please note, performers aged 14 and under will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

What can I perform on stage?
We invite you to showcase your performing talent, whether that be dancing, acting, music, comedy, spoken word or anything else. We kindly ask that the content of your performance is suitable for all ages.

Is there a time limit on my performance?
Performances can be up to 5 minutes long. This is to allow as many people as possible to have a go.

My performance group has a lot of people. Can we still register?
Yes, please specify the number of performers in your group in the registration. We want as many people as possible to enjoy this experience.

Once I’ve registered, how will I know I’ve been successful?
After the registration deadline has passed, you will receive an email letting you know if you have a spot. The email will contain further information about the performance day including your arrival time and performance time slot. It will also include information on how friends and family can book their free tickets to watch.

What will it be like on the day?
You will be put into a small group on arrival. One of our team will meet you, take you backstage and give you a short briefing so you know what will happen. Each group will be given time to get changed before your moment in the spotlight.

Who will be in the audience?
Anyone! Invite your friends and whānau to support and cheer you on - it's free to attend. You can spread the word to as many people as you like.

What kind of audio equipment will be available?
Some audio equipment will be made available. Please detail your requirements in your registration. The stage will be lit by one of our special in-house technicians, working to ensure your performance shines!

Can I perform to a backing track?
Yes, please bring your music or backing track on a device that is able to be plugged into an AUX cable. Please have the track downloaded to your device, as we cannot control the quality if it is streamed through an application.

Can I bring props to perform with?
You are welcome to bring small props as part of your performance, however you will only have a few moments to set them up immediately before your performance starts. Please include all your props in your registration form.

Will I have access to a dressing room?
You will have access to changing facilities backstage prior to your performance, but there will be limited time to get ready. We advise that you come already prepared if you have a costume that takes a while to put on.

What if I don’t want my performance being recorded?
That’s OK. The recording is optional, please just specify on the registration form.
