Visual Art at Auckland Live
We warmly welcome the public to visit Auckland Live to view our collection of artworks by some of New Zealand’s most highly regarded artists.
Many of these artworks have great significance for the city of Auckland, having been commissioned for the Aotea – Te Pokapū | Aotea Centre in the 1980’s and 90’s. At the time this public art project was the country’s most ambitious, and in that vein our contemporary Digital Art Live programme is a leader in interactive digital artwork.
Some of the artworks in our venues have great mana and resonance, such as Selwyn Muru’s Waharoa which transforms Aotea Square into a Marae, and Aotea Tapestry by Robert Ellis, hailed as one of the most significant contemporary tapestries, and one of the country’s largest public commissions. Auckland Live is proud to be steward of such a significant collection of artworks, and we are honoured to present them to the people of Auckland.
