In light of the ongoing situation with COVID-19, the following concerts with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra (APO) have been cancelled:
- The New Zealand Herald Premier Series: Perspectives - Thursday 18 June, Auckland Town Hall
- The New Zealand Herald Premier Series: Mahler 6 - Thursday 25 June, Auckland Town Hall
- Metlifecare Unwrap the Music: Unwrap Britten’s Four Sea Interludes - Tuesday 30 June, Auckland Town Hall
APO and/or Ticketmaster will be communicating with ticketholders for all cancelled concerts.
To make sure music lovers can still enjoy Auckland’s orchestra the APO is presenting a series of free online performances.
In this suite from Peter Grimes, the sea washes into the concert hall. A bleak grey dawn; a bright morning, sunlight sparkling off the waves; a warm night, the moon over calm water; a ferocious storm. Britten paints the ocean in sound, and Graham Abbott shows us how.
The Metlifecare Unwrap the Music series takes you ‘behind the scenes’ of some of the world’s greatest works to discover what makes them so special. Astonishingly knowledgeable and passionate about music, conductor and presenter Graham Abbott presents a series of concerts that both entertain and enlighten.
