The final free organ concert for 2024 brings together organist Martin Setchell and trumpeter, Thomas Eves.

Martin Setchell is no stranger to the Town Hall organ, included in this concert as part of an international tour. Thomas Eves, once a member of the Auckland Philharmonia, is now Principal Trumpet of the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra. The pairing of organ and trumpet is a natural one as this concert confirms in works of Bach, Handel and Hielscher.  Bach’s only three- part work for organ, the Toccata, Adagio and Fugue, is one of Martin Setchell’s contributions. Others are Guilmant’s march on Handel’s Lift Up Your Heads and Paul Spicers variations on God Defend New Zealand under the title, Kiwi Fireworks. This is a great concert to end the year. Book early to be sure of a seat.
