BNZ Auckland Lantern Festival returns in 2025 to celebrate the Year of the Snake!
Join us at the Manukau Sports Bowl on 13 – 16 February for this FREE TICKETED and family-friendly event.

Not to be missed highlights
- Hundreds of Lanterns - Over 500 handmade lanterns will be on display across four days including a brand-new lantern commissioned to celebrate the Year of the Snake in 2025.
- Performances - Watch traditional and contemporary performances come to life in the cultural courtyard and on our main stage.
- Food & craft stalls - 40+ street stalls will be on-site selling delicious food from many cultures, supported by a range of retail stalls including craft and gift merchandise.
- Amusement Rides - Entertain the kids with the various amusement rides on offer.
- Fireworks on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night - On 14, 15, and 16 February, the festival will close with a spectacular fireworks display from the centre of the park at approximately 9:50pm.

- Plan your travel in advance: Make sure you don’t get caught out by busy traffic, delays, and train line closures when you make your way to the Manukau Sports Bowl.

Bring with you:
- Cash - while some food stalls have eftpos, some only take cash. Be prepared so you can skip the cash-out queues
- Only bring what is necessary - travel light for ease of movement amongst the crowd. Auckland’s weather can be unpredictable – bring layers and protection from rain
- Your friends and family – it’s a great group outing, and a family-friendly event with something for all ages
Don’t Bring:
- While accessibility dogs are welcome, we advise that other pets be left at home
- The event is smoke-free and alcohol free
- Tables and chairs – these will be provided. Picnic blankets are welcome
