About the Artists

Janaye Henry (Ngāti Kahu ki Whangaroa) is a comedian, writer, and actress from Auckland. She recently made a splash onto televisions across New Zealand competing on Celebrity Treasure Island. She has been doing comedy for 9 years, improv for 10 and describes herself as a clown by nature, comedian by nurture. She is a screenwriter, and her highlights include Taskmaster Season 2, Ahikāroa and Have You Been Paying Attention? An award nominated and winning comedian, she is committed to diversifying the artist landscape in Aotearoa and curated the first wāhine Māori stand-up show. 

Courtney Dawson (Ngāti Kurī, Waikato-Tainui) stumbled into her first comedy gig in 2018 and has been going from strength to strength since then. She was awarded Outstanding Comedy Performance in 2022 by the Auckland Fringe Festival, won Best Female Comedian at the 2023 NZ Comedy Guild Awards, and in 2024 was awarded Best Newcomer for her first solo show. Courtney co-hosted two seasons of Rags are Riches, occupied the news desk on Paddy Gower Has Issues, and more recently made us laugh as co-host on DON’T. She continues to be an in-demand comedian, gigging regularly in Auckland and around the motu.
