About the Artist

From the vibrant streets and soundscape of Henderson, West Auckland, award-winning Māori artist MOHI is a once-in-a-generation talent. His music masterfully weaves Te Reo Māori and traditional Māori storytelling with English lyrics and urban influences, creating a sound that is both deeply rooted and forward-thinking.

Indigenous to Aotearoa New Zealand, MOHI’s artistry is grounded in his rich cultural heritage, reflecting the strength and beauty of his whakapapa (ancestry). Since launching his solo career in 2020, he has quickly risen to become a household name - resonating throughout Aotearoa and increasingly on the global stage.

MOHI’s latest project, The Flowers That Grow From Concrete Pavements, is a two-part release that’s already making waves. The first half, Side A, released earlier this year, kicked off with standout single “FLOWERS IN HENDO.” The journey continues with Side B, led by single “I NEED U,” offering a fresh glimpse into the next chapter of this genre-defying body of work. The full album The Flowers That Grow From Concrete Pavements is out now and streaming everywhere.

MOHI’s impact continues to resonate across the industry. In 2024, he took home Best Te Reo Māori Album and Best Male Artist at the Māori Music Awards.

He also received nominations for Best Māori Artist and the Mana Reo Award at the Aotearoa Music Awards 2025 and won the prestigious APRA Maioha Award for his waiata “Me Pēhea Rā.”

In May, MOHI took his album international with his first showing at the FOCUS Wales International Showcase Festival, where he introduced global audiences to his visionary project, captivating crowds with his powerful live performance. Most recently, MOHI performed as part of the Matariki National Broadcast, a nationwide celebration watched by over 1 million viewers, further cementing his place as one of Aotearoa, New Zealand’s most compelling and important voices.
