Benjamin Sheen, is Director of Music at Jesus College Cambridge and an established concert artist. Hailed as a “brilliant organist” by the New York Times, he is the 2013 winner of the Pierre S. du Pont First Prize in the inaugural Longwood Gardens Organ Competition (USA). In the same year he received Second Prize and the Jon Laukvik prize at the St. Alban’s International Organ Competition (UK). Benjamin holds degrees from the University of Oxford and New York’s Juilliard School, and is a prizewinning Fellow of the Royal College of Organists Company of Musicians’ Silver Medal.

Earlier in his career he spent eight years at the famed Saint Thomas Church, Fifth Avenue in New York City as Associate Organist and was Acting Director of Music after the death of John Scott in 2015.

As a concert organist, Benjamin has performed throughout Europe, the USA, Canada, Singapore, South Africa and Australasia.

His Auckland concert will include great works by Felix Mendelssohn, J S Bach and Franz Liszt and pieces new to New Zealand audiences. A transcription of Elgar’s Cockaigne Overture will end the concert with a flourish!
