Special Events

This Matariki Auckland Live welcomes the Kākano Youth Arts Collective to the See.Do.Auckland pop-up within the Britomart train station. For three days, the space will be transformed into the art studio of these talented rangatahi where they will create a new artwork before your eyes.

Led by artist Jermaine Reihana, the collective will create an installation that is a celebration of Matariki and the relationship to whānau. Displayed on plinths, the artwork will use light and paper to tell a story through imagery of this important time of year.

Come down to See.Do.Auckland and watch the artists in action, or come and enjoy the installation once it is complete. It will be available to enjoy for free during See.Do.Auckland opening hours until mid-July.

Residency Information:
