Get active with your whānau this winter and discover some of Auckland’s coolest landmarks with the brand-new game, Urban Explorers on the goosechase app!
The app will take you on a self-guided trail of Tāmaki Makaurau’s central city and you will need to work together with your family to complete missions and solve the puzzle.
Where are the missions located?
The missions are scattered throughout the Auckland CBD, with the majority around the Aotea Centre, Auckland Art Gallery and the New Zealand Maritime Museum. The self-guided trail should take you around two hours.
To complete the missions, you will need to search for the answers, and may be asked to take a photo or video in order to solve the puzzle. Some answers may be found outdoors - they could be near a sailboat, or sculptures and artworks by some of Aotearoa’s greatest artists.
While you’re at the locations check everything that’s on offer. Discover the artworks inside the Aotea Centre and around Aotea Square, and the history inside New Zealand Maritime Museum, where entry is free for Aucklanders. Auckland Council also have more great goosechase games for families. Find out more here.

Being a good Urban Explorer
There are a few things you can do that will keep you safe when you are on the trail. Look out for cars, watch the road and not your device when crossing, and make sure you keep two metres apart from other Urban Explorers
