#WeMakeEvents: Lighting up red on 30 September

Auckland Live and Auckland Conventions, Venues & Events are proud to be part of the global #WeMakeEventsMovement, created to raise awareness for all those who work in the live event and entertainment industry devastated by effects of the Covid-19 crisis.

Live events around the world and across the entire NZ landscape of major festivals, landmark theatres, grassroots venues, and business events have been devastated by the pandemic. The sector also includes a huge supply chain of companies ranging from event production, audio, lighting, video, logistics, planning, transportation, and some of the world’s leading technology manufacturers.

On Wednesday 30 September, as darkness falls, venues all over the world will light up red in support of the millions who work in an industry reeling from lockdowns and mass gathering restrictions.

This wave of red will start right here in Aotearoa, and we’re humbled to be leading the way by lighting up Aotea Square, the Aotea Centre Wrap, and The Civic in red to send a message of support, and to show the country that the events industry is on red alert for survival.
