What's going on this weekend?

There are multiple events happening in Tāmaki Makaurau this weekend:
 

BNZ Auckland Diwali Festival 2025 at Aotea Square and Queen Street
Saturday 11 - Sunday 12 October, 12pm - 9pm 
 

Dracula at The Civic
Saturday 11 October, 2pm and 7pm

 

Ram Leela at Great Hall, Auckland Town Hall
Saturday 11 October, 5pm

 

Lucky Ali at Kiri Te Kanawa Theatre, Aotea Centre
Sunday 12 October, 6pm

 

We anticipate heavy traffic coming into the city, the Civic Car Park and other city centre-based parking may be full or difficult to get to due to road closures. Please factor in extra travel time when planning your journey. 

Buses, trains and ferries will run according to weekend schedules. You may also choose to catch a taxi or other ride share services.  

The Civic box office will be open 90 minutes before both performances of Dracula on Saturday, 11 October. The Civic will be open 60 minutes prior to each Dracula performance. 

Auckland Town Hall box office will be open 90 minutes before the performance of Ram Leela on Saturday, 11 October. Auckland Town Hall will be open 60 minutes prior to the performance. 

The Aotea Centre and box office will open 90 minutes before Lucky Ali in the Kiri Te Kanawa Theatre, Aotea Centre on Sunday 12 October, but is otherwise closed to the public over the weekend.

Mobility access & parking

There will be mobility parking available at the following carparks, Civic Carpark, Downtown Carpark and Skycity Carpark.

 

Road closures & street parking restrictions 

The following road closures and parking restrictions apply this weekend. Please ensure you factor in extra travel time if you are planning to travel by car. The latest updates are available on the Auckland Transport website.

 

Road closures

The following roads will be closed from 7pm Friday 10 October to 6am Monday 13 October: Queen St. (Wellesley to Mayoral Drive), Airedale Street, Wakefield Street, Lorne Street (Rutland Street to Wellesley), Rutland Street.

 

Parking Restriction Times:

The following roads will have parking restriction in place from 7pm Friday 10 October to 6am Monday 13 October: Queen Street (Wellesley to Mayoral Drive) Airedale Street, Wakefield Street, Rutland Street, Lorne Street (Rutland Street to Wellesley).

 

Diversion in place between 7 pm, Friday 10 October until 6 am Monday 13 October

Auckland Diwali Festival Fireworks 

A fireworks display is scheduled for 8:50pm Sunday, 12 October in Aotea Square and will last approximately 10 minutes. This is to mark the end of the weekend’s Diwali celebrations.

The Terrace and Container in the Square

The Terrace will be closed on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 October.  
Container in the Square will be open from 12pm until late on Saturday and Sunday, serving non-alcoholic beverages.
