Masked maverick Jonathan Bree makes a rare live appearance in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, debuting new songs and crowd favourites before departing to Europe for a summer music tour.

Co-founder of cult indie pop group The Brunettes, Bree’s memorable, widely-imitated appearance in Kiwi-synth producer Princess Chelsea’s 2011 music video for ‘The Cigarette Duet’ launched him into a solo career of opulent pop – and ongoing viral fame with breakthrough hit ‘You’re So Cool’.

Known for melodic compositions where he croons about modern life and love over string parts that slide precariously between notes and dulcitone chimes, Bree’s hypnotic sense of mystery as a performer is matched only by his mesmerising musical palette, a mixture of cinematic inspiration and dark Disney overtones.

'A record of sublime and sophisticated classic pop that conspires to lead you, willingly, into its dark night' — NZ Herald on Bree’s 2017 album Sleepwalking.

'100% the boldest and weirdest music video director working today. He dreams up trippier sights for his already trippy sounds for 2017’s best video' Time Out New York on Bree’s self-directed music video ‘You’re So Cool’.
