Ko Au - Disconnected

No longer available

Kiri Te Kanawa Theatre, Aotea Centre

Dance

Ko Au, which means “I Am”, is inspired by the personal stories and diverse traditions of dancers from Auckland based Hip Hop and Street Dance collective Projekt Team. The dancers use cultural and street dance language interwoven in contemporary ideas to highlight some of the struggles they have with finding their own identities. Ko Au - Disconnected unfolds cultural understanding with a deeply thought out, unique approach to each story that has the power to touch hearts and change minds.

'Ko Au is a really special work to us that took us 2 years to develop. We've worked with all our dancers through getting to know their culture and histories to try and create pieces that will really have a uniqueness that you can't find anywhere else but here in Aotearoa. We look forward to seeing you there and we hope you enjoy the show.'Artistic Directors (Joshua Mitikulena and Seidah Tuaoi, Projekt Team)

This one-show, matinee performance is available for secondary schools only. An Education Resource Pack will be available for schools to order after the show. Plus, there will be a 15 minute Q&A with the directors and cast following the performance.
