Ladies of Hip Hop NZ is a street dance festival dedicated to celebrating and empowering women and girls in Hip Hop culture. The event features dance battles, a house dance workshop, guest performances and kōrero (panel talks) that highlight community, creativity, and cultural exchange. Come for a powerful weekend of movement, energy, and connection.

On Sat, 7 June, attend a House Dance Workshop led by Toyin Songunro, who has come all the way from the USA. She will be sharing her deep knowledge of house dance, the culture, history, and foundations behind the style. It’s a chance to learn, grow, and be inspired. Whether you're a seasoned dancer or new to the scene, this session will empower and elevate your skills. After the workshop, the energy keeps building with the Ladies Battle Prelims — the first chance to see dancers bring their fire to the floor. Then at 7:30PM, join us for a panel talk featuring local and international voices, diving into the stories, challenges, and experiences of women in hip hop culture.

On Sun, 8 June join us for the Ladies of Hip Hop NZ battle finals, where the country’s best female street dancers go head-to-head. Featuring live performances from multiple guests, showcases from international dance crews, and a special exhibition battle.

Entry to all events is FREE and available to all.
