Join Carolina from Colombia in a lively 30-minute storytelling session! She captivates kids with interactive Spanish word games, energetic movement activities, rhythmic songs, and engaging tales. Carolina easily adapts to her audience, and ensures a fun, inclusive celebration of Spanish culture, perfect for children of all ages.
10:30 Puoro o te Moana nui with Salvador
In this session, practitioner Salvador Brown will guide you on a journey through the shared Pūrākau, Fagogo, and ancestral stories of these treasured instruments, the Taonga Pūoro and Messina logo of the great Moana Nui. As their unique voices intertwine, you’ll be invited to relax and connect with the Atua and deities that dwell within their songs.
11:00am Swahili Storytelling with Carine
Nairobi, the ever busy city that is always buzzing with life, carries the hopes and dreams of so many who come to the city expectant. We follow the story of Kare, a young girl who seeks nothing more than freedom from the ghetto and a better life for her and her grandmother.
11.30am Cantonese Storytelling with Renee
Join playwright, poet and children's doctor Renee Liang for some fun stories in a mix of English and Cantonese. Bang cymbals to scare off Nian, the New Year monster! Throw imaginary rice cakes to patch up the sky in Sky-Mending Day! Make your best fart noises to help the Two Farting Sisters find fame and fortune!!
