VoiceClub is Auckland’s pre-eminent community choir specialising in harmony singing of popular music from the 1960s to the 21st-century. Under music director David Tillinghast, the choir has grown to more than 100 in number and presents a colourful program of songs that will fill the Great Hall with joyful music.
On Thursday 14 December at 7.30pm the choir will present it’s 2017 December concert in the Great Hall of The Auckland Town Hall. The theme is “Love” and David’s arrangements bring the songs to life in a startling new light.
This year VoiceClub are delighted to share the stage with chamber choir The Voxpop Singers, also under the direction of David Tillinghast, along with rising solo star Kate Wood. The concert will include an instrumental trio, although most songs will be sung a cappella.
Chord5 a brilliant group of young singers who were runners up in the TV show The Naked Choir - will also front with their wonderful blend of voices to add to the evening.
Special guests will be children from Glenbrae School in West Tamaki accompanying the choir on African drums, and also a children’s choir from Baird Mainfreight School in Otara. Both of these decile one schools have been recipients of donations from previous VoiceClub concerts. The choir routinely donates the surplus funds from its concerts to decile one schools and this is a practice which will continue this year.
