Since its inception in 1965, the annual NZCT Chamber Music Contest has provided a platform for thousands of Kiwi secondary school students to perform.
The Contest, the largest and longest running chamber music event of its kind, acts as a springboard for musicians and composers of tomorrow, encouraging participants at all stages of their musical development to perform together and enjoy the thrill of making music.
From 320 submissions, eight talented ensembles from across the country have made it through the District Rounds, the Regional Finals, and now advance to the final round.
The finalists are:
Trio Chicago – Auckland
Amallegro – Auckland
Gedalge Trio – Hamilton
The Hillbillies – Wellington
Schnittke’s Snickers – Wellington
Juliusz Quintet – Christchurch
Berlin Trio – Christchurch
WATPIC – Christchurch
The 2022 National Finals will be adjudicated by: Matthew Barley, Stephen De Pledge, Madeleine Pierard, Leonie Holmes (Composition), Justine Cormack and Benjamin Baker (Digital Challenge).
Tickets will be valid until 10 minutes before the performance starts.
