Two superlative talents travel across the seas to grace us with their extraordinary musicianship.
Longtime NZSO audiences will remember the glorious expressivity of Dima Slobedeniouk’s sensitive artistry. We are thrilled to have him conduct us in one of the great concerti, performed by one of the world’s great violinists. Augustin Hadelich performs Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in a performance sure to exemplify Hadelich’s “outstanding power of expression and great mastery” (Süddeutsche Zeitung).
Jean Sibelius completed his water-nymph-inspired tone poem The Oceanides while he was literally on an ocean liner, travelling to America. Its luscious musical depiction of surging seas can only be matched by Claude Debussy’s La Mer, a landmark in watery Impressionism.
