Baritone Benson Wilson, tenors Manase Latu and Oliver Sewell, and bass-baritones Samson Setu and Paul Whelan will be joined by sopranos Amelia Berry, Claire Filer, and Moonyoung Jang to bring an opera concert of extraordinary beauty to our audience.
Accompanying this stellar lineup is Somi Kim, hailed as one of today’s most highly regarded and versatile young pianists, with extensive concert experience.
It is very fortunate all the performers are here at the same time, albeit temporarily. Benson is back in New Zealand from London for the European summer break; Samson and Manase are here on summer break from their two-year Metropolitan Opera Lindemann Program; and following our concert Oliver, Claire and Paul are all about to head back to their bases in the USA and Europe as the world opens up.
The evening promises to be full of drama and excitement with a programme of ensembles, quintets, duets, and solos from the world of opera to share with you, including the heart-breaking final act of La Traviata, the sextet from Donizetti’s Lucia de Lammemoor, and the wonderful final act from Gounod’s Faust.
Given the calibre of the performers and the programme, this is a concert that you will not want to miss.
