Equally opulent music from Korngold, who essentially invented the swashbuckling Hollywood soundtrack. The lush language of his film music made it into his deeply felt Symphony, but by the time it was performed, this glorious music was cruelly out of fashion.
If you only know Barber from his poignant Adagio for Strings, prepare to be surprised by this wickedly funny overture.
