He gave us Apple, and now the technological wizard that’s Woz is bracing himself to take a bite out of New Zealand. Few people can be said to have revolutionised modern technology and been as impactful as the inventor of the personal computer and co-founder of Apple: Steve Wozniak (aka “Woz”). This August, the innovative and inspiring force that is Woz will land on the shores of New Zealand.
With a hefty resume of accomplishments in the digital world (across Atari and Hewlett-Packard) and the humanitarian sphere (founding the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) to protect digital rights of internet users worldwide), the sweetest fruit of Woz’s laborious pursuits was Apple: the corporation that has revolutionised how we communicate, how we work, and how we live.
Virtually no echelon of society has been unaffected by the work of Steve Wozniak; the device on which this is being read has his virtual fingerprints all over it, accomplished with Woz’s work ethic of pleasure over profit. This is a philosophy he has applied to each of his endeavours, and encourages all aspiring inventors to follow suit:
The world needs inventors - great ones. You can be one. If you love what you do and are willing to do what it really takes, it’s within your reach.
