“The Big Sing”, run by the NZ Choral Federation, is NZ’s national secondary school choral competition, held annually in 10 centres. 2026’s Auckland regional event runs over 4 days (15-18 June) in the Auckland Town Hall. Here is your chance to hear stunning and varied performances from 88 of Auckland and Northland’s secondary school choirs, showcasing choral music presented with skill, diversity, enthusiasm and musicianship. Be inspired by performances of everything from classical to contemporary art music: from musical theatre to gospel, from Māori and Pasifika, and music from Europe and the Americas. Attend daytime sessions (payment at door) and Choral Showcase concerts (pre-booking essential) at 7.00pm from Tuesday 16 - Thursday 18 June.
Entry to daytime sessions in the Town Hall: $10.
Monday: 1.30pm – 5.30pm
Tuesday: 9.00am – 12.30pm, 1.30pm – 5.15pm
Wednesday: 9.00am – 12.30pm, 1.30pm – 5.15pm
Thursday: 9.00am – 12.30pm, 1.30pm – 4.30pm
