Four of New Zealand's top early-career tenor singers compete for the Jim Stevenson Tenor Scholarship at the Concert Chamber, Auckland Town Hall, Wednesday, 29th October 2025 at 7pm.

The finalists have completed their training in New Zealand and need financial support to travel overseas for advanced training or to audition. The scholarship is offered by The Jim Stevenson Performing Arts Trust and three distinguished judges will select the winner on the night.

 

The finalists you will see perform:

Jordan Fonoti-Fuimaono
Jordan is a proud Samoan tenor from Flaxmere. Having completed study in New Zealand, Jordan looks forward to applying for Young Artist Programs and Institutions abroad to further his young career. 

 

Ridge Ponini
Having recently completed his study in New Zealand, Ridge is now poised to take the next significant step in his career, applying to various overseas Young Artist Programs and preparing for auditions. 

 

Elias Nguyen
Elias is a Vietnamese-Kiwi tenor currently in his second year at the New Zealand School of Music - Te Kōkī. He would like to study operatic performance in Germany in the future. 

 

Ipu Laga'aia
Ipu will be undertaking an audition tour across Europe, with the goals of building professional connections and furthering his artistic development on an international scale.
