Three award-winning young classical soloists collaborate to present a diverse selection of classical music. Featuring European masterpieces by Brahms, Prokofiev, Chopin, and Bartók, as well as contemporary classical works by leading New Zealand composers John Psathas and Ben Hoadley.

TrioZeus was conceived through the Young Artist Programme of the inaugural Wakatipu Music Festival in June 2021, presented by the Hill Foundation for Art and Music.

Their combined accolades include:

  • Winner of the Wallace National Piano Competition, National Concerto Competition, University of Auckland Graduation Gala Concerto Competition, Michael Hill International Violin Competition Emerging Artist, Auckland Philharmonia’s Young Soloist of the Year, ROSL Chamber Competition.
  • Major prizewinners of the CMNZ National Chamber Contest, and Gisborne International Music Competition.

Proceeds support their upcoming Covid-delayed musical studies in USA, Norway, and Germany.

This year Auckland UNESCO City of Music in collaboration with Auckland Live launched the inaugural Young Gig Makers Grant. An initiative set to support young and aspiring music event organisers and musicians with a micro-grant of cash plus in-kind technical support and equipment to present an all-ages concert or music performance in the Auckland region. Auckland UNESCO City of Music is grateful for the generous support and contribution made by Auckland Live to make this opportunity available.

Tony Yan Tong Chen is one of the 2021 Young Gig Makers Grant recipients.
