Acclaimed Auckland chamber choir Viva Voce is excited to celebrate its 40th anniversary this year.
Since 1985, 'VV' has given over 500 performances: in concert, on radio and at special events, focusing always on the twin goals of excellence and entertainment.
The choir's 20th anniversary programme was Keeping the Score. Twenty years on, we return to that theme and reflect on the four decades of musical riches, abundant opportunities and generous audiences with which we have been blessed.
Hence, Twoscore Years and Plenty revisits some of the many paths Viva Voce has taken on its long journey: through the madrigal, motet, part-song, spiritual, folk and pop/rock genres; via musical styles from serious and dramatic to light and humorous; and accompanied by composers such as Monteverdi, Purcell, Debussy, Britten, Vaughan Williams, Whitacre, Hamilton and Ritchie, to name but a very few!
To mark this significant birthday, most of the above aspects of VV will make an appearance, intermingling with a couple of brand-new delights. Please join us, so we can celebrate our twoscore years of joyful and adventurous music-making with you!
