There’s no denying the fact that, at the last Sing Aotearoa (our national choral festival), the Australian a cappella quartet The Idea of North was a huge hit. Specialising in jazz – though also comfortable in a wide variety of styles including classical, folk, pop, soul and gospel – the quartet have produced many award-winning recordings, but are best seen live for a full appreciation of their ability to connect with and entertain an audience.
So … we’ve had a chat, and Sally, Naomi, Nick and Andrew have agreed to join Viva Voce in this rare joint concert, where the two groups will sing separately and combine. In the tradition of ‘VV Pops’ and ‘VV Rocks’, it’s VV Jazz. Cool!
