Why is the Aotea Centre closed?
We are getting ready for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 Draw.
This is a major event for Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland and Aotearoa New Zealand. It requires a lot of planning and preparation, thank you for your patience.
Key dates:
- Sunday 16 - Monday 24 October: The Aotea Centre will be closed to the public.
- Sunday 16 - Sunday 23 October: Areas surrounding Aotea Centre, including Aotea Square, will be under tight restrictions.
- Saturday 22 October: The FIFA Women's World Cup 2023 Draw will take place in the Aotea Centre.
- Tuesday 25 October: The Aotea Centre will re-open to the public.

Aotea – Te Pokapū | Aotea Centre Access
The Aotea Centre will be closed to the public from Sunday 16 - Monday 24 October (this includes Labour Day – Monday 24 October). The Aotea Centre will re-open on Tuesday 25 October.
The Terrace and Container in the Square Café
Container in the Square Café is closed from Sunday 16 October, reopening Tuesday 25 October.
The Terrace is open normal hours Monday 17 - Thursday 20 October*, closed from Friday 21 October reopening on Tuesday 25 October. Also closed Monday 24 October due to Labour Day holiday.
Ticketmaster Box Office
The Aotea Centre Box Office will be relocated to The Civic box office from Monday 17 - Tuesday 25 October. The Aotea Centre Box Office will reopen on Wednesday 26 October.
Road closures & street parking restrictions
Patrons who are coming into the city to events in the Auckland Town Hall and The Civic are advised to factor in extra travel time due to road closures and reduced parks availability at the Civic Carpark. We recommend you make alternative parking arrangements if you plan to travel by car. For information on accessing Queen Street and Auckland Transport parking availability.
Transport options
Where possible, we advise patrons to take public transport, cycle, walk or carpool into the city to avoid parking issues. Auckland Transport has a bike rack beside Aotea Square for cyclists. Buses and trains will run according to the regular weekend schedule. We recommend you plan your public transport journey in advance.
