Beethoven Septet

Our soloists for Beethoven’s Triple Concerto  join with APO musicians to bring us another of his most appealing pieces. Beethoven, alas, came to loathe his Septet’s extreme popularity, which overshadowed his more ‘serious’ works. Korngold’s seldom-heard Suite, written for the one-armed pianist Paul Wittgenstein, is a nostalgic reminiscence of pre-First World War Vienna.
